Live jazz performance by Sonny Raymond (piano) and Charlie Mitkowski (guitar) from the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter School.

Doors open at 6 pm - Refreshments will be served

This spring, Northampton High School students in art teacher Louise Martindell’s printmaking class learned about jazz in several ways. They attended a live performance of a jazz quintet in an all-school assembly; they researched some selected jazz musicians and visual artists whose work has been influenced by jazz; and they listened to jazz during their class time.

Their assignment, to create a piece of art depicting their interpretation of jazz, results in the works selected for this exhibition. The Northampton Jazz Festival will use this artwork to create the 2024 poster and other festival materials.

NHS Students participating in this show are: Eliza Brown, Benny Dalhaus, Soren Dunaway, Nightshade Hammer, Camilla Hatch, Adrean Peloquin, Randy Pizha Loja, Kiara Sokop, and Rosa Sullivan-Merrick.
